TOM McDONALD, Co-Founder

Everyone enjoys a good story, and Tom McDonald loves telling them. "I actually just tell other people's stories." Tom spent the past decade studying the craft of storytelling through the lens of a camera. Tom believes ordinary reports can become extraordinary stories by gathering the sights, sounds, action, reaction, and natural moments of an event. "Just like in the movies, characters are what define everyday stories." Gathering content, though, is only half of the challenge. Tom has a unique talent for pacing a story in the editing process. He's also gifted with a great sense of timing in revealing conflict, resolve, and surprises along the way.

Tom has won many awards including two Emmys and several National Press Photographer Association quarterly clip contests. In 2005, Tom was a finalist for the NPPA Ernie Crisp Television Photographer of the Year award. Tom is a Denver local and a graduate of Metropolitan State College. He is passionate about telling stories that matter to the Colorado community and beyond.

NAOMI BINKLEY, Co-Founder

Naomi Binkley never imagined growing up that she would one day work in television. "That said, I needed to declare a major in college. I was practically born a writer and applied to the Journalism School's magazine editorial program." Naomi recalls there wasn't space on the application for a second choice, but she decided to ink in broadcast news anyway. She was about to leave the country to take part in a study abroad program and just didn't want to take any chances. "It must have been fate because I was accepted into the broadcast news program and loved it." Naomi was instantly enthralled with the art of weaving her writing with interviews and natural sound to tell stories. More than a decade later, Naomi is still passionate about allowing viewers to "experience" a story through video and simply can't imagine working in any other field.

Naomi is an award-winning journalist and a tireless ambassador for those she works with. Her professional experience dates back to 1997 when she started as an associate producer at the ABC affiliate in Colorado Springs. She quickly learned the ropes of the newsroom and was promoted often. Naomi's many job titles there include assignment editor, producer, tape editor, reporter, and fill-in anchor. Naomi then moved up to the ABC in Grand Rapids, Michigan before returning home to Colorado. She spent several years writing and reporting for the Fox affiliate in Denver. "Now, I am proud to continue telling stories, capturing moments and providing information at Fireside Production."

Fireside Production also works with a talented network of photojournalists, editors, producers, writers and voice-over professionals.
