Day of Service – Samaritan House

Posted on: May 30th, 2017 by Naomi Binkley

Joy.  That’s the word our team used to describe our Fireside Day of Service at Samaritan House.  That struck me.  Samaritan House provides meals and shelter to men, women and children facing homelessness in Denver.  To note a spirit of joy while serving those in great need is astonishing… and it’s exactly why our Days of Service are so important to us at Fireside Production.

Each quarter, Fireside devotes a half-day to volunteer for a non-profit Client.  For our spring 2017 Day of Service, we decided to give back to The Catholic Foundation Alliance and in particular, Samaritan House.

There have been times over the years when Tom and I have questioned whether our Days of Service are meaningful to our team and to our community.  Both are important motivators for us in creating and committing to the volunteer days.  Being a small business, it is very easy to be all-focused on serving our Clients.  It’s what we do and what we love; however, by taking time regularly to engage in our community makes us stronger as a team and keeps us connected with those who most need acts of kindness and giving.

So, when I hear that there was a sense of joy – I hope – experienced not just by the Fireside team but by those we interacted with… it means the world to me.  If your organization is need of volunteers, get in touch with Emily Williams ([email protected])…  She’s always looking for our next opportunity to serve.
